Basic Information

The sample is collected using the swab included in the sampling kit.
Before collecting your sample, please complete the informed consent form and the questionnaire, both of which are included in every sampling kit.
After sample collection, place the swab — securely sealed — along with the completed consent form and questionnaire into the shipping envelope (preferably a padded one) without a cold pack.
During the summer months, the sample must be shipped with a cold pack, as high temperatures may compromise sample integrity.
Important: Avoid any contact with the tip of the swab.
Sample Collection Instructions

Ensure your mouth is clean for at least one hour prior to sample collection. Avoid all of the following:
food, drinks, smoking, chewing gum or candy, toothpaste, mouthwash, dental floss, and lipstick.
Immediately before collection, swallow any excess saliva.
Sample Collection:
Cells are collected from the inside of the cheek (buccal mucosa) by rubbing the swab firmly against the area for at least 3–4 minutes. The goal is to collect as many cells as possible by thoroughly swabbing the inner cheek.
Step 1
Please label the designated collection tubes with the name of the individual being tested and the date of sample collection.
Step 2
Open the plastic cover and carefully remove the sterile cell collection swab.
Step 3
While holding the plastic handle, place the swab tip between the gum and the inner cheek wall, after swallowing any excess saliva. Rub the swab firmly against the inner cheek wall in all directions for 3–4 minutes, as if brushing your teeth.
Step 4
Place the swab back into its casing and carefully close the plastic cover.
Step 5
Place the collection tube containing the biological sample into the designated return envelope, along with the completed consent form and questionnaire.
